Requirements of Cambodian Customer for Chain Hoists

Cambodia is a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and has friendly political and economic relations with China. Cambodia’s economic development level is low, infrastructure construction needs to be improved, for lifting equipment demand is greater. Cambodia’s power supply is unstable, often causing power outages and voltage fluctuations, which puts high demands on the use of chain hoists.

In March 2023, our company received an RFQ from a Cambodian construction company, which needed to buy 5 sets of 5 tons chain hoists for material handling and lifting at construction sites. The company’s main requirements for the chain hoists are as follows:

• The lifting capacity is 5 tons, the lifting height is 6 meters, and the working class is M4;
• Power supply voltage of 380V, frequency of 50Hz;
• Safety functions such as overload protection, limit protection and anti-phase sequence protection;

• The motor adopts a three-phase asynchronous motor, which has the advantages of high efficiency, low noise, small volume and lightweight. The motors are IP55 rated, which prevents the ingress of dust and water vapour. The motor is also equipped with an overheating protection device, which can automatically disconnect the power supply when the temperature is too high to avoid damage.
• The gear reducer adopts a gear reducer, which has the advantages of compact structure, smooth transmission and low noise. The gear reducer adopts hardened gears, which are precision machined and heat-treated to provide high strength and wear resistance. The inside of the reducer is filled with high-performance lubricating oil, which can effectively reduce friction and wear and prolong service life.
• The brake adopts electromagnetic brake, which has the advantages of large braking force, fast braking speed and reliable braking. The brake adopts a self-adjusting structure, which can automatically adjust the braking clearance according to the tension of the chain to ensure the braking effect. The brake is also equipped with a manual release device, which can manually release the chain in case of power failure or malfunction to avoid jamming.
• The chain is made of high-strength alloy steel chain, which has the advantages of large bearing capacity, good flexibility and not easy to break. The chain is treated with special surface treatment, which has the performance of corrosion and oxidation resistance. The chain is also equipped with a limiting device, which can automatically stop the motor when the chain reaches the highest or lowest position, preventing the chain from overstretching or winding.
• The hooks are made of forged steel with the advantages of high strength, good toughness and not easy to deform. The hooks are heat-treated and surface-treated for corrosion and abrasion resistance. The hooks are also equipped with safety locks to prevent the load from slipping.

Transportation and Installation of 5 Set Electric Chain Hoists

Our company finished the production of 5 sets of 5 tons chain hoists in July 2023 and packed them into wooden crates for transportation. We chose the sea transportation method to deliver the chain hoists to Phnom Penh port in Cambodia. Our company cooperated with a professional logistics company, which was responsible for the loading and unloading, customs clearance, insurance and other matters of the chain hoist, and tracked the transportation of the goods in real-time.

The customer has now received the chain hoist and arranged for a professional engineer to install it. Our company also sent a technician to assist the customer in installation and debugging via video phone. Our technician chose a suitable installation location and method according to the customer’s site conditions and carried out the correct wiring and settings according to the product manual. Our technician also trained and instructed the customer’s operator, teaching the operation method and precautions of the chain hoist.
